Many Olympians, professional sports teams and endurance athletes have experienced the difference that Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) provides.
Laser Therapy has been shown to accelerate pain relief and tissue healing in numerous studies and has been cleared by the FDA for use in clinical practices.
I have recently added deep tissue laser therapy to our service offerings at Eastside Chiropractic in Greenville. Studies have revealed that deep tissue laser therapy stimulates internal healing and improves recovery. Our office uses a device from Multi Radiance Medical known as the TerraQuant to penetrate deep into injured muscle tissues to promote healing and relieve chronic pain. Our practice recommends laser therapy for patients with sprains and strains, sports injuries, plantar fasciitis, chronic back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, post-op pain, ligament injuries, arthritic pain and other types of inflammatory conditions.
The TerraQuant deep tissue laser has proven very effective in promoting healing and relieving pain for patients. Additionally, this type of therapy can be used as an alternative to medicines, injections, and surgery.
Laser therapy works by stimulating internal healing on the cellular level. During a treatment, light penetrates six to eight inches below the skin’s surface. Energy from the laser promotes the production of cellular ATP (Adenosine Tri-Phosphate), a chemical necessary for cells to repair damage. Increased production of ATP means that damaged tissue heals faster. Patients with sprains or strains may recover three to five times faster with laser therapy.
Think of ATP as a ‘fuel’ that cells need to heal. Laser therapy brings this fuel source straight to the cells. After ten short treatment sessions, our patients are able to return to their normal, active lifestyles.
The treatment also relieves chronic pain for debilitating conditions such as arthritis by reducing inflammation. Chiropractors can recommend laser therapy as an alternative form of pain management for chronic back pain, hip pain and neck pain.
Low level laser therapy is used by professional sports teams, including the New York Yankees, New Jersey Nets, Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Celtics. The U.S Olympic Teams in the 2012 London Olympic Games also have access to this therapy from many of the Olympic physicians on hand to treat them.
I also recommend laser therapy as part of a comprehensive treatment program. Other treatments which are available to my patients include chiropractic care, physical therapy, massage therapy and orthopedics.
The conditions which we have improved with LLLT at our office include neck pain, lower back pain, frozen shoulder, “whip
